Weekly Update

We have had a very productive week and enjoyed the un-seasonally warm weather outdoors. Our Reading Sheds have been open at breaktimes and the children have loved sharing books and magazines with their friends.

Year 4 went on a local visit walk as part of their Geography unit of work on Thursday and managed to do 10,312 steps!Year 3 have been in the Outdoor Classroom undertaking rubbings for their art work as well as welcoming their parents to the Library Drop-In session on Thursday. Year 5 had a very successful Parental Engagement afternoon which was so well attended on Wednesday (see below) and Year 5/6 also took part in a friendly football tournament with Kader School on Friday. Nursery welcomed their parents in on Tuesday to enjoy Stay and Sing sessions where lots of rhymes and songs were shared and enjoyed. It was good to see the sea of red across school today where we promoted Show Racism the Red Card and some important messages were shared in assembly.

As autumn celebrations draw near, we also had the Fire Service in briefly today to talk about how to stay safe around Bonfire Night; sadly the firefighters got called out on an emergency during the assembly but lots of safety messages were given.

We will be having our Harvest Festival next Thursday and welcome any donations that will be given to the Middlesbrough Food Bank. We also look forward to welcoming parents and carers to our Parents Evenings next week – please make an appointment via the app if you haven’t already done so.

After a rather busy week, we hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

Class Round-Up

Year 3

This week, Year 3 explored different textures in the Outdoor Classroom for our frottage art piece. We are taking texture rubbings to create nature inspired artwork in the style of Max Ernst. So far, we have some fabulous pieces of work coming along!

Year 5

Year 5 welcomed their parents/carers into school on Wednesday for their Enrichment Afternoon. The children were able to share what they had been learning about Ancient Greece in History as well as creating their own traditional design on a Greek Pot and designing a laurel wreath.  There was lots of collaborative work and some very imaginative designs; both classes looked the part when they tried on their headwear and the adults were able to demonstrate their artistic skills too.

We would like to thank everyone who was able to come as the children were delighted to share their learning with you and the afternoon was enjoyed by all.

Attendance Matters

It is so important that we see your children in school every day as any missed days means missed learning.  We have had a very positive start to the new term.

There are our attendance figures for this week:

Overall 96%

A big well done to the 8 classes who got 96% or above and huge congratulations to Class 103 for getting 100%. Fantastic and keep it up!

If children are arriving late or leaving school early for medical appointments, please make sure that evidence is provided to the school office.

Reminders

*Thank you to everyone who has named their child’s uniform; this helps us to return any lost property to its rightful owner.

*If you have had any change of address or telephone number over the summer, please could you inform the school office asap.

*With the unpredictable weather, please can the children bring a coat to school each day, so they are prepared for all eventualities.

*Please remember that children shouldn’t be playing on the P.E. equipment on the playgrounds/field before and after school as there needs to be a member of staff supervising them at all times.
