WEEKLY BLOG – Friday 11th April

Weekly Update 🥚🐇

What a busy last week of term it has been.  We had a huge number of fantastic entries in our decorated egg competition, and it was extremely difficult to judge them. Thank you for all the support you have shown to our annual event, and many congratulations to the winners.  There was also great support for our Easter raffle which the children enjoyed being drawn in our key stage assemblies. Well done to everyone who won an egg; a grand total of £540 was raised for school funds.

A number of visits to St Margaret’s church have taken place this week, and the children have enhanced their learning about the Easter festival; a huge thank you to to Reverend Wild and the many members of the church community who made these visits possible. Mr Armstrong rounded off our Easter celebrations with a whole school assembly today.

Hope everyone has a lovely Easter break, and we look forward to seeing everyone back in school on Monday 28th April.

Class Round-Up

Enjoy finding out what some of our KS2 classes have been doing in their learning…

Year 2

Y2 have had a great week this week! Today we went into the Outdoor Classroom and learnt all about fire! We made sure we followed our Foundations of Behaviour: we were respectful, responsible, and safe.
Today we made Easter cards for our adults at home! We practised our fine motor skills by cutting out the intricate outline of a rabbit and rolling cotton wool into a ball for the tail. We hope everybody has a lovely Easter!

Year 1

Year 1 have had a very busy  last week of the Spring term.
We visited St Margarets Church on Monday and enjoyed sharing in lots of activities centred around the Easter story. We especially enjoyed the wafers and juice representing the Last Supper!
We have worked so hard designing and making our own Rocket locomotive just like George Stephenson complete with moving wheels and axles!
We  made Easter cards for our families.

Attendance Matters

We were so proud of the 144 children who received a 100% attendance certificate for the spring term.  This is our best number yet, and we have many other children who have made great improvements to their attendance this term.  Many thanks to all our families for your support in improving our attendance.

Let’s go for even more individuals and classes achieving 100% each week in the summer term.

Overall – 95.5%
There were only four classes with 96% or above this week, but congratulations to Class 409, which has won the attendance trophy this week.

Reminders

*Thank you to everyone who has named their child’s uniform; this helps us to return any lost property to its rightful owner.

*All medicines brought into school, should be brought in through the office where the appropriate paper work will be completed. We only accept medicines that need to be taken more than 3 times a day. Children should not have medicines in their own coats or bags.  Many thanks for your support.

*Please remember that children shouldn’t be playing on the P.E. equipment on the playgrounds/field before and after school as there needs to be a member of staff supervising them at all times.
