Weekly Update
An eventful week in school starting with a poignant 1-minute silence on Monday where we remembered all those affected by wars over the years. Some of our Year 6 children also attended the service at Acklam Grange School.
We had some humorous odd socks on Tuesday where everyone was able to share their individuality as part of Anti-Bullying week. We visited the theme of Choose Respect over the week, emphasising the importance of always making the right decisions, especially with our peers.
There were some great outfits on Friday for Children in Need and Miss Mills showed us in assembly the importance and positive impact of this very worthy charity. Thank you so much for all your donations which came to £563.85.
We hope everyone has a lovely weekend.
Class Round-Up
Year 5
At the end of last half term, Year 5 thoroughly enjoyed designing, making and evaluating their Greek Flatbreads. They were very open to trying new foods and following the instructions carefully to make their designs. Their evaluations were very honest and useful for anyone else making them in the future.
Year 5 also enjoyed welcoming their parents and carers into school for the Library Drop-In where they were able to share a range of texts and complete book reviews as well as making a Reading Fortune Teller.

Year 6
Year 6 had a wonderful time in the outdoor classroom this week. They recapped their fire lighting skills and even had a go at making their very own mini fires. They all have brilliant knowledge of what is needed to create a fire. Thank you, Mr Armstrong! Year 6 also enjoyed dressing up in their colourful outfits in support of Children in Need.

Attendance Matters
It is so important that we see your children in school every day as any missed days means missed learning. We have had a very positive start during Autumn 1.

There are our attendance figures for this week:
Overall 95.9%
Well done to the classes who got 96% or above and huge congratulations to Class 409 for getting 100% for the second week running. Let’s see which other classes can get 100% next week!
If children are arriving late or leaving school early for medical appointments, please make sure that evidence is provided to the school office.

Diary Dates and Reminders…

Reminders
*Thank you to everyone who has named their child’s uniform; this helps us to return any lost property to its rightful owner.
*If you have had any change of address or telephone number over the summer, please could you inform the school office asap.
*With the unpredictable weather, please can the children bring a coat to school each day, so they are prepared for all eventualities.
*Please remember that children shouldn’t be playing on the P.E. equipment on the playgrounds/field before and after school as there needs to be a member of staff supervising them at all times.
