Weekly Update
It has been lovely to have some less chilly days this week, and the children have enjoyed our playground activities.
Mr Armstrong began his programme of Outdoor Classroom activities with Year One this afternoon, and our Year 4 children had a great time visiting the Hancock Museum today to support their history unit on Ancient Egyptians.
Please see the diary dates below for more events coming up over the coming weeks, including our Library Drop-In sessions, which begin next week.
Have a lovely weekend.
Class Round-Up
Year 4
Year 4 had a fantastic visit to the Hancock Museum in Newcastle as part of our Ancient Civilisations topic. The Egyptian exhibits were the highlight—we were fascinated by real mummies, stunning artefacts, and hieroglyphics. We even tried writing our names in the ancient script and saw a replica of the Rosetta Stone, discovering how it unlocked the secrets of the Egyptian language. It was a day full of wonder and discovery! After lunch, we explored the other exhibits, such as the Romans and Dinosaurs. It was a brilliant way to bring history to life, and we’d recommend a visit to everyone!

Year 5

In music, Year 5 have been discussing jazz music and learning to play The Three Note Bossa’ on the glockenspiels. We even improvised our own eight note melodies and then performed them to the rest of the class.

In science this week, we have started out new unit learning about forces. We carried out an investigation to determine which surfaces create the most friction and measured the force needed using force meters.
In our first lesson on self-portraits in art, we took on the challenge of drawing ourselves using a continuous line. We then had to choose 6 words that described ourselves to write around the outline of our self-portrait. Lots of concentration and care was needed.
Attendance Matters
It is so important that we see your children in school every day as any missed days means missed learning.
There are our attendance figures for this week:

Overall 97.9%
Great attendance again this week with nearly every class getting a green – well done!
Let’s aim for some classes getting 100% over the coming weeks.
If children are arriving late or leaving school early for medical appointments, please make sure that evidence is provided to the school office.

Reminders
*Thank you to everyone who has named their child’s uniform; this helps us to return any lost property to its rightful owner.
*Please remember that children shouldn’t be playing on the P.E. equipment on the playgrounds/field before and after school as there needs to be a member of staff supervising them at all times.
