Weekly Update ☀️

It has been a busy week with Year 5 having a very successful Enrichment afternoon which was so well attended on Wednesday (see below).

Mr Jackson had two great days at the TAG Rugby tournaments on Monday and Tuesday, where all the teams worked so well together and were a credit to the school. Well done to everyone who took part.

As autumn celebrations draw near, we are having the Fire Service in next week to talk to KS2 about how to stay safe around Bonfire Night.

We also look forward to welcoming parents and carers to our Parents Evenings next week – please make an appointment via the app if you haven’t already done so.

Have a lovely weekend.

Class Round Up

Enjoy finding out what some of our classes have been doing in their learning…

Nursery

In Nursery we have had lots of fun accessing our outdoor continuous provision, we have practised skills such as climbing, balancing and building. The children have also had a great time helping to prepare snack, our Snack Monitors have demonstrated excellent perseverance by using their fine motor skills to peel the oranges, pour water into the cups and put straws into the milk. The children have also used fantastic manners during our Snack and Chat circle time.
Our current learning theme in Nursery is ‘Ourselves’ – after sharing the story Owl Babies we asked the question ‘who is in your family?’ The children had a great time drawing their family as well as sharing and talking about family photos sent into school on Seesaw.
A big thank you to all of the parents/carers who attended our recent Nursery Stay and Sing. The children had a fantastic time singing their favourite Nursery Rhymes with you!

Year 5

Year 5 welcomed their parents/carers into school on Wednesday for their Enrichment Afternoon. The children were able to share what they have been learning about Ancient Greece in History as well as creating their own traditional design on a Greek Pot, designing a laurel wreath and making temples out of straws.  There was lots of collaborative work and some very imaginative designs; both classes looked the part when they tried on their headwear, and the adults were able to demonstrate their artistic skills too.

We would like to thank everyone who was able to come as the children were delighted to share their learning with you and the afternoon was enjoyed by all.

Today, we began our Design and Technology unit on making Greek Flatbreads. We researched Ancient Greek foods before tasting some different foods that we could use to flavour our flatbreads. Finally, we designed our flatbreads which we can’t wait to make next week!

Our recent writing unit was a non-chronological report about orangutans, and we are very proud of our published pieces.

Attendance Matters

It is so important that we see your children in school every day as any missed days means missed learning.  We have had a very positive start to the new term.

There are our attendance figures for this week:

Overall 95.3%

A big congratulations to Class 511 for getting 100% – a fantastic achievement – and for winning the attendance trophy two weeks in a row! Well done to Nursery pm, Class R01, Class 205, Class 206, Class 308, Class 512, Class 613 and Class 614, who all got over 96%. Let’s keep this up and aim for even more classes getting 100% in the coming weeks.

Reminders

*Thank you to everyone who has named their child’s uniform; this really helps us to return any lost property to its rightful owner, and we would encourage all parents to make sure that uniform is named please.
