Weekly Update ☀️

What a fantastic last week of term we have had.

On Monday, we welcomed choir members from Prestonwood Church High School Choir in Dallas, USA who are being hosted by St Margaret’s Church. They shared information and led us with some great singing; thank you to Reverend Wild who brought the visitors along.

A big thank you to everyone who supported our Sports Days this week – after some adjustments for the weather, we ended up with some glorious sessions! The children thoroughly enjoyed the activities and were assisted by our Year 5 and Year 6 Sports Leaders who did a fantastic job. We had some very competitive parents/carers races too – a wonderful effort!

On Thursday, we said a sad farewell to four members of our fantastic staff – Miss Todd, Miss Hirst, Miss Parks and Mrs Hughes.  It was lovely to celebrate all they have given to Acklam Whin, and we wish them lots of happiness in the next chapter of their lives.

We also had a memorable Year 6 Leavers Assembly which showcased the memories and talents of our amazing Year 6 children. Everyone enjoyed hearing the poetry, seeing the magic tricks, dancing and singing. We wish you lots of success in the future, but know that you are all ready to move on in your journey.

Have a wonderful summer break, and we look forward to seeing everyone back in school on Tuesday 2nd September.

Class Round-Up

Enjoy finding out what some of our classes have been doing in their learning.

Year 6

What a fantastic final few weeks it has been for our amazing Year 6 children. They thoroughly enjoyed their Sports Day, showing incredible determination, teamwork, and positivity throughout every race and activity. Not only did they take part brilliantly, but they also shone as sports leaders for the younger year groups, supporting them with kindness and encouragement.
To celebrate their hard work this year, they went on a special bowling trip, where they showed off their skills, had lots of fun with their friends and enjoyed some absolutely delicious food.
Finally, they wowed us all with their Year 6 Leavers’ Performance. Every single child performed with confidence and enthusiasm, making their teachers, families and friends so proud.
We are incredibly proud of each and every one of our Year 6 children and wish them every success as they move on to secondary school. They have been wonderful role models and we know they will continue to shine in everything they do! ⭐️
✨ Once an Acklam Whinner, always an Acklam Whinner ✨

Attendance Matters

It is so important that we see your children in school every day as any missed days means missed learning.

There are our attendance figures for this week:

Overall: 94.3%

134 children have received a 100% for the summer term certificate this week, and 34 children achieved 100% for the whole year – a fantastic achievement.

Reminders

*Please label all children’s uniform, especially jumpers/cardigans as with the hot weather we have a lot that we have found unnamed and can’t return to its owner.

*On non- P.E. days, children should be wearing full school uniform, including black school shoes.

*Children with pierced ears should only wear a small stud for school and these should be removed for P.E. lessons please.

*Nail varnish should not be worn in school for safety reasons.

We thank you for your support with uniform expectations.

*Please can parents/carers make sure that we have the most up to date information on our system.  If you have moved house or changed your telephone number or email address, please let the office know.
