Weekly Update

It was lovely to see so many parents/carers in school this week for our Parents Evenings – we hope you found it beneficial seeing the progress your child has made and sharing their work.

We had a fantastic Ready Steady Cook assembly on Monday where Mrs Boylett and Miss Todd showed us how to make pancakes and Mr Armstrong and Mr Jackson did a fantastic job tossing and decorating them. Thank you to everyone who supported our food hamper raffle – well done to the winners; we hope you enjoy the goodies!

After the holidays, we are asking that children with a packed lunch bring a separate drink in addition to their classroom water bottle please as their lunches will go to the hall on a trolley. Water is always available in the lunch hall.

Our choir are really looking forward to The Legacy Learning Trust Choir Festival in the Town Hall on the 5th March; they have learned a number of songs and we can’t wait to see them performing with other children in the Trust.

We look forward to welcoming parents/carers to our Special Needs Information session and the KS2 Library Drop In, which are both on the 6th March.

Have a lovely half term holiday, and we will see everyone back in school on the Monday 3rd March.

Class Round-Up

Nursery

Last week in Nursery we had a fantastic time with our grown-ups at our Valentine’s Day themed Stay and Play! We had so much fun accessing our continuous provision areas and showing our adults what we like to get up to at Nursery. Thank you to everyone who came, and to all who completed a Parent Voice comment; we love to read your feedback!

Across this half term we have been very busy learning about People Who Help Us. After learning about the roles of a Police Officer, Firefighter and Nurse we carefully designed our own emergency vehicles and did a fantastic job!

This week we have enjoyed learning about the role of a Dentist and why it is important that we look after our teeth. We practised good tooth brushing skills on our pretend set of teeth too! The children have loved dressing up as a Dentist and checking each other’s teeth.

Nursery have enjoyed lots of physical activity this half term! We have practised good balance and coordination using the Balance Bikes and love to take part in our daily Squiggle Whilst You Wiggle Sessions using our ‘Flipper Flappers’. The original Crazy Frog has been our favourite choice of song for Squiggle!

After half term our ducklings are arriving at Nursery, and we are so excited!

We hope that you enjoy looking at some of our photos!

Reception

Over the past few weeks, Reception have been finding out about why dental care is important and how we can look after our teeth.

We have sequenced the steps to show how to brush our teeth properly and have had a closer look inside our mouths to learn more about what we can see. Reception know all about the importance of brushing our teeth twice a day for two minutes.

After looking closely at the inside of a dentist’s treatment room and exploring some of the equipment a dentist might use, the children have enjoyed pretending to be dentists in their play.

This week we have learnt about how sugary foods and drinks can damage our teeth and have written some super sentences to support our understanding.

Attendance Matters

It is so important that we see your children in school every day as any missed days means missed learning.

There are our attendance figures for this week:

Overall 95.6%

Let’s try and get some classes on 100% after the holidays.

If children are arriving late or leaving school early for medical appointments, please make sure that evidence is provided to the school office.

 Reminders

*Thank you to everyone who has named their child’s uniform; this helps us to return any lost property to its rightful owner.

*All medicines brought into school, should be brought in through the office where the appropriate paper work will be completed. We only accept medicines that need to be taken more than 3 times a day. Children should not have medicines in their own coats or bags.  Many thanks for your support.

*Please remember that children shouldn’t be playing on the P.E. equipment on the playgrounds/field before and after school as there needs to be a member of staff supervising them at all times.
