Weekly Update ☀️

Class Round-Up

At the beginning of the week, the Year 4 classes had two engaging days at the Tees Mouth Field Centre where they enhanced their Geography learning about Rivers.  It was real hands-on fieldwork which the children thoroughly enjoyed, they visited the Transported Bridge and built models of the River Tees on North Gare beach.

The Year 5 children took part in a Poetry Slam Workshop with poet Bob Beagrie on Wednesday.  The children had an action-packed day working in their teams and performing their poetry to an audience during the afternoon. The two winning teams will perform their poetry at the Middlesbrough event in the Town Hall in June.

Groups of Year 4 children have been involved in Cricket competitions this week The boys came home with a fantastic silver medal on Wednesday and the girls had great matches today.

Thank you to all the Reception parents/carers who came to the Library Drop-In session on Thursday; it is always lovely to see you at these events. Our Reception children also enjoyed an enjoyable afternoon in the Outdoor Classroom with Mrs McNab on Tuesday.

Hope you all have a lovely half term break.

Class Round Up

Enjoy finding out what some of our Key Two classes have been doing in their learning.

Year 6

Last week, Year 6 officially completed their SATs after weeks of dedication, focus, and incredible effort. We are all immensely proud of them—they’ve shown resilience, determination, and a fantastic attitude throughout. Each and every child is amazing, and we could not be prouder!
This week, Year 6 have channelled their energy into a fantastic group DT project, creating their very own ‘chair-o-planes’. Teamwork was at the heart of the task, and it was brilliant to see them collaborating so effectively. Their creativity and problem-solving skills truly shone through, resulting in outstanding final products. Well done, Year 6—you’ve worked hard, supported each other, and achieved so much! Have a fantastic, well-deserved half term.

Year 3

In Art this week, Year 3 tried different joining methods to create a 3D sculpture. They folded, slotted, rolled, glued and balanced different shapes of cardboard together to make an abstract sculpture that can hold itself upright and be interacted with.

Year 3 learned about shadows and how different materials can change the intensity of the shadow. We experimented using opaque, translucent and transparent objects to create shadows and organised our results depending on how dark the shadows were.

Attendance Matters

It is so important that we see your children in school every day as any missed days means missed learning.

There are our attendance figures for this week:

Overall 92.9%

A disappointing week for attendance but well done to the 4 classes who got 96% or above and to Class 512 who won the attendance trophy.

Morning PE Club gives children in Y2-Y6 the opportunity to attend a weekly PE club. Children must access this club via the main hall doors (not via the playground) at 8.25am on their set day. Latest drop off time is 8:30am. This club is optional and will run throughout the school year.

Reminders

*This is a reminder that dogs should not be brought onto the school site, even if they are small enough to carry.

* Please label all children’s uniforms, especially jumpers and cardigans. With the hot weather, we have found many unnamed and can’t return them to their owners.

*On non-P.E. days, children should wear full school uniforms, including black school shoes.

*Children with pierced ears should only wear a small stud for school and remove them for P.E. lessons, please.

*Nail varnish should not be worn in school for safety reasons.

We thank you for your support with uniform expectations.

*Please can parents/carers ensure we have the most up-to-date information on our system.  Please let the office know if you have moved house, changed your telephone number or email address.
