Weekly Update

We held a lovely Harvest Festival in school yesterday led by Reverend Wild. She gave us some very important messages and we all celebrated the wonderful donations of food and other items that were collected later in the day by the Middlesbrough Food Bank. The items will be very well received by families using the resource.

Mr Jackson organised a Tag Rugby event with Kader Primary School on Wednesday where friendly matches were undertaken here at Acklam Whin. Every child in Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 has now had at least one opportunity to represent the school in a competitive sport event this half term. We have had over 100 children take part in our P.E. clubs this week during break, lunch and dinner!

We look forward to welcoming parents/carers into the academy after the holidays for the Year 2 Parental Engagement event on the Wednesday and for the Year 1 Library Drop-In on Thursday.

We hope everyone has a lovely, relaxing half term holiday, and we look forward to seeing everyone back in the academy in on Monday 4th November.

Class Round-Up

Nursery

Last week in Nursery we hosted our first Parent Stay and Sing of the year! The children were so excited to share their fantastic singing and loved having lots of grown-ups in school as a real audience. We worked super hard and chose our favourite Nursery Rhymes to share; we are currently enjoying lots of Number Rhymes to 5. Thank you to everyone who attended!

The children have had lots of fun exploring Autumn materials that we collected on our walk to the Outdoor Classroom. The children found some fantastic natural objects and were fascinated by the change of colours on the leaves.  As a class we have enjoyed sharing lots of stories about the Autumn season, to help us learn new information and develop our vocabulary.

In Nursery, the children have enjoyed continuing to access the indoor and outdoor continuous provision. The children have been working very hard to develop their fine motor skills; they recently enjoyed working as a team to scoop the inside of the pumpkins out! To quote the children “the pumpkins feel like slime!”

We hope that you enjoy looking at some of our photos.

Attendance Matters

It is so important that we see your children in school every day as any missed days means missed learning.  We have had a very positive start during Autumn 1.

There are our attendance figures for this week:

Overall 95.7%

A big well done to the 8 classes who got 96% or above and huge congratulations to Class 206 for getting 100%. Fantastic and keep it up!

If children are arriving late or leaving school early for medical appointments, please make sure that evidence is provided to the school office.

Reminders

*Thank you to everyone who has named their child’s uniform; this helps us to return any lost property to its rightful owner.

*If you have had any change of address or telephone number over the summer, please could you inform the school office asap.

*With the unpredictable weather, please can the children bring a coat to school each day, so they are prepared for all eventualities.

*Please remember that children shouldn’t be playing on the P.E. equipment on the playgrounds/field before and after school as there needs to be a member of staff supervising them at all times.
