Weekly Update
Happy New Year to everyone; we hope you all had a lovely, restful Christmas break. It has been great to see all the children back in school this week all wrapped up for the chilly weather we have been having! The children certainly enjoyed the snow we had at the beginning of the week.
We have made a good start on our new curriculum units and have lots of exciting events coming up for the children in the spring term.
Have a lovely weekend.
Nursery
Nursery have been learning all about what happens during the Winter season! ❄️☃️🌨️
The children were very excited to experience real-life snow in our playground on our arrival back to Nursery on Monday. The snowy weather has been a fantastic addition to support our current learning and understanding! As a class we shared the story ‘Winter’ and looked closely at our Knowledge Organiser to identify signs of the Winter season. The children have had a great time observing the weather and talking about what we might see in Winter. ❄️
On Wednesday we went for a chilly walk to our Outdoor Classroom where the children had a super time working together to look for signs of Winter. The children were able to link lots of our themed vocabulary including words such as cold, frozen and ice. The children were also excited to spot ‘bare’ trees making a link back to our prior learning about Autumn. ❄️
We have had a wonderful first week back – the children have been superstars! ⭐️

Reception
For the beginning of this half term, Reception are observing and investigating the seasonal changes that take place during Winter.
Reception went on a winter walk around the school grounds and described what we could see and feel. We looked closely at the trees and plants and talked about the changes we could see. We filled pots with water and left them outside overnight. We looked at them the next day to see if anything had changed.

Reception read the non-fiction book ‘I Love the Seasons Winter’ and talked about our own experiences to help us understand more about some of the changes we might see during Winter. We were so lucky to enjoy the snow this week, and we shared photographs showing some of the activities we enjoyed over the Christmas Holidays. We explored the meaning of the weather symbols and checked the weather forecast each day.

Attendance Matters
It is so important that we see your children in school every day as any missed days means missed learning.
There are our attendance figures for this week:

Overall 95.7%
A great start to the new term with 12 classes getting over 96%; well done!
Congratulations to Class 205 who got 100% and won the attendance trophy.
Let’s keep this up and aim for even more classes getting 100% this term.

Reminders
*Thank you to everyone who has named their child’s uniform; this really helps us to return any lost property to its rightful owner, and we would encourage all parents to make sure that uniform is named please.
