Weekly Update

A busy week in school this week with Nursery having two very successful Parent Stay and Read sessions; it was lovely for the children to share books with their parents and carers and thank you to everyone who attended.

In assemblies this week, we discussed Road Safety Week and shared the importance of taking care when we are out and about, especially as the days get shorted.

Mr Jackson also looked at one of our Games Values of Self-Belief and discussed what could be achieved if we believed in ourselves.

We look forward to welcoming everyone to our Christmas Fayre next Thursday (5-7pm) where we will have lots of stalls, yummy treats, games, crafts and a special visitor will be dropping in. Thank you to everyone who has sent in donations for the bottle tombola; any other items would be greatly appreciated.

We also thank you for the donations to the CAUSE hampers which each class are putting together – please could any other items be brought in by the 2nd December.

Have a lovely weekend, and we look forward to the coming few weeks of Christmas Celebrations.

Class Round-Up

Year 4

Year 4 has had an exciting week in science and the outdoor garden! We conducted an experiment to understand viscosity – that’s the measure of how thick or thin a liquid is and how easily it flows. For our experiment, we used ketchup and hot dogs. The children squeezed ketchup onto hot dog slices and observed how it slowly dripped down, showing how thick ketchup is compared to water and which would be the perfect ketchup for a hotdog stand. They learned a lot about how viscosity changes with temperature!

Today, we also spent some time outdoors in the outdoor garden. The weather was perfect for a little fire-lighting session! With supervision from Mr. Armstrong, we built a small fire, learned about fire safety, and had a cup of warm juice in our safe outdoor space. After our busy week, it was a fantastic way to wind down and connect with nature. There’s nothing like a day full of discovery, fresh air, and fire-building fun!

Sports Round-Up

This week some of our Y3/4 and Y5/6 children represented the school at the Middlesbrough Sports Hall Athletics Competitions. Both teams returned to school with bronze medals after 3rd place finishes in a very competitive event!

Every child in KS2 has had the opportunity to attend at least 2 PE clubs this week. We have had over 150 children attend our PE clubs since Monday morning! Clubs have run at break, lunch, before and after school and have covered, dance, gymnastics, table tennis and fundamental skills.

In assembly this week Mr Jackson shared a story about one of our sporting super stars in Y6 who used self-belief to develop her confidence in PE and school sport when she was in Y3 and how she has now gone on to win several medals and represent our school at wide range of events!

Attendance Matters

It is so important that we see your children in school every day as any missed days means missed learning.  We have had a very positive start during Autumn 1.

Overall 94.2%

A little disappointing attendance this week but, well done to the 7 classes who got 96% or above this week.

Let’s see if some classes can get 100% next week!

Reminders

*Thank you to everyone who has named their child’s uniform; this helps us to return any lost property to its rightful owner.

*Please remember that children shouldn’t be playing on the P.E. equipment on the playgrounds/field before and after school as there needs to be a member of staff supervising them at all times.
