Weekly Update ☀️
Many thanks to all the contributions to our Chocolate Day today – the children enjoyed coming in non-uniform in exchange for some generous donations towards our Summer Fayre which is next Wednesday after school.
Year Five had a busy day on Wednesday when a group attended the Middlesbrough Poetry Slam at the Town Hall. Fourteen schools took part, and we were so proud of how they performed their poems on Identity. Thank you for all the hours of practice you all put in before the event. Another group of Year 5 children attended a Maths Morning at Acklam Grange School where there was a circus of activities which required teamwork, strategy and perseverance.
Many thanks to everyone who attended the Year 1 Parental Engagement afternoon where there was a wonderful selection of houses built as an enrichment as part of their history unit on The Great Fire of London. (see below)
Year 3 also enjoyed an informative day at Segedunum on Friday to enhance their Romans unit; it was great to see the remains of a former Roman fort.
We look forward to seeing everyone at the Summer Fayre, after school, on Wednesday where there will be lots of goods on our stalls as well as rides, activities and food to buy.
Have a lovely weekend.
Sports Report
On Wednesday, nine of our pupils represented Middlesbrough at the Tees Valley Athletics Finals. Our children qualified from the Middlesbrough event to take part in this.
Middlesbrough were crowded as overall champions at the event and lots of individual medals returned to school as well.
Enjoy finding out what some of our classes have been doing in their learning.
Class Round Up
Year One
Year 1 has had another fun packed week. We invited our parents in to help us create our own Tudor houses, just like the ones in London at the time of The Great Fire of London. We had so much fun and got creative with our models as well as a bit sticky! Thank you so much to everyone who was able to attend.
We also had a visit from a teacher from TVMS who did a music workshop based on our history topic of The Great Fire of London
Last Monday, we had a visit form PSCO Allinson who told us all about how to stay safe and sensible when using our devices at home and at school.
We also went on a weedy walk to find out what plants grow in our school grounds; we found dandelions, buttercups and daisies!

Today Year 3 visited the Roman fort Segedunum at Wallsend where we trained to become Roman soldiers. Mrs Bell made a wonderful Commanding Officer!
We learned about life in the fort, before exploring the ruins. We then visited a section of Hadrian’s Wall and reenacted how Romans would have defended the fort from invaders. We looked around the museum, dressed up and explored artefacts. We’ve had a brilliant day!
Attendance Matters
It is so important that we see your children in school every day as any missed days means missed learning.
There are our attendance figures for this week:

Overall 92.9%
Well done to the 3 classes who got 96% or above; we are especially pleased with Nursery pm achieving 97% and to Class 103 who won the attendance trophy for the second week in a row.
This half term we are aiming for more children and classes to achieve 100%.
Each class has now allocated an Attendance Ambassadors who are role models for promoting positive attendance in their class.

Reminders
*Please label all children’s uniform, especially jumpers/cardigans as with the hot weather we have a lot that we have found unnamed and can’t return to its owner.
*On non- P.E. days, children should be wearing full school uniform, including black school shoes.
*Children with pierced ears should only wear a small stud for school and these should be removed for P.E. lessons please.
*Nail varnish should not be worn in school for safety reasons.
We thank you for your support with uniform expectations.
*Please can parents/carers make sure that we have the most up to date information on our system. If you have moved house or changed your telephone number or email address, please let the office know.
