PSHE

“If you have good thoughts, they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely!” – Roald Dahl

Welcome to PSHE at Acklam Whin

Here, at Acklam Whin Primary School, we believe that a strong PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic) education is important to help our pupils develop into well-rounded members of society, who can thrive and make a positive contribution to their community. The vision for pupils, staff and other members of the school community is to always look to achieve our personal best in every aspect of school life.

This also supports the “Personal Development “and “Behaviour and Attitude” aspects required under the Ofsted Inspection Framework, as well as significantly contributing to the school’s Safeguarding and Equality Duties, the Government’s British Values agenda and the SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social, Cultural) development opportunities provided for our children.

Our Aims

At Acklam Whin, we value PSHE as one way to support children’s development as human beings; to enable them to understand and respect who they are; to empower them with a voice; and to equip them for life and learning.

As a school, we use the Jigsaw PSHE programme: a mindful approach to PSHE. It delivers a comprehensive, carefully thought-through whole school philosophy with children and young people at its heart, which nurtures the positive and inclusive culture of the whole school community.

Jigsaw believes that building resilience in children equips them for life and underpins their capacity to learn.
