Weekly Update ☀️
We ended the week celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Stockton and Darlington Railway. The legacy of the first passenger railway is so significant in our area and has had a lasting impact on the success of the Tees Valley. Each class undertook an activity to commemorate the event and discovered why a railway was needed, the challenges of building it, the events of the day of the opening, and the legacy, both locally and globally. The children enjoyed learning about this important event and our very own train and station built in Reception was a joy to experience.
Our sports teams had a great couple of days with the postponed Girls’ Football event having some cracking games on Monday and our Cross-Country runners having great success on Tuesday, with 10 people going through to the Finals.
Our Year 6 children are really looking forward to their Residential Visit to Robinwood next week; we know it will be a wonderful experience for them.
We hope you have a lovely weekend.
Class Round Up
Year 1
Year 1 children have been fantastic mathematicians, learning how to compare numbers and using key language, including ‘greater than’, ‘less than’, and ‘equal to’.
In English, the story of “Mr Grumpy” has captured our imagination. Children enjoyed discussing the vocabulary and had a lot of fun using their voices and actions to act like the main characters.
We had a fantastic afternoon to celebrate 200 years of the Stockton Darlington Railway. We listened to the story of the railway’s beginnings. Then we built a train track and trains out of loose parts. We drew pictures and played with the model train set.

Attendance Matters
It is so important that we see your children in school every day as any missed days means missed learning. We have had a very positive start to the new term.
There are our attendance figures for this week:

Overall 96.9%
A big well done to Class 511 and 614 for winning the attendance trophy as well as well as the 8 other classes who all got over 96%.

Reminders
*Thank you to everyone who has named their child’s uniform; this really helps us to return any lost property to its rightful owner, and we would encourage all parents to make sure that uniform is named please.

If you are looking for an activity for your young person to do you may wish to consider making use of the interactive Once Upon Online activity. This quick story-based activity which is part of the Digital Matters series lets your child make choices that could be risky in real life so they can learn about the consequences in a safe space. Have them complete this journey on their own or complete it together to talk about your choices. You can access it here Introduction to Online Research free lesson | Digital Matters.
