Weekly Update ☀️

What a wonderful range of outfits we had today to celebrate Children in Need Day. There were lots of Pudsey themed items as well as bright colours which made us smile! We have raised a total of almost £500 that will be sent to this fantastic charity; thank you for all your support.

We also had a fantastic range of socks on Monday which was Odd Socks Day and allowed everyone to reflect their individuality. This was the start of Anti-Bullying Week where the theme this year was Power for Good.

Mr Jackson has been working very hard with the Sportshall Athletics events next week – we wish all our children good luck in the event.

We hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Class Round Up

Reception

Reception have been busy exploring the question, “What do animals do in Autumn?” We visited the outdoor classroom to learn about how hedgehogs hibernate and how to keep them safe during bonfire night. We read the story, “Don’t Hog the Hedge”, and pretended to hibernate like Hattie the Hedgehog. We made our own nests out of natural materials.

We have started our new leaning this week all about our school community. We looked at objects pictures from around school and matched them to places where we would find them. We talked about when and why we visit each place and took some photographs of us visiting them.

We wore Odd Socks to mark the start of Anti-Bullying week and spoke about what makes us all unique and special. We spoke about how important it is to be kind to each other as well.

Nursery

Nursery have had an action-packed start to Autumn Term 2!
We started off by learning about the celebration of Bonfire Night. As a class we rolled out big paper to represent the night sky and then used lots of colourful paint and glitter to create a huge firework! The children enjoyed working as a team to spread and merge the colours together using different painting utensils. We also shared the key text ‘Remember Remember the Fifth of November’ and talked about how we can stay safe on Bonfire Night.
Over the past couple of weeks in Nursery, we have been talking about how our heart feels and who we love. To support our learning, we shared the stories ‘In My Heart’ and ‘Guess How Much I Love You’. In a heart shape the children drew who is special to them and talked about why they are special. At carpet time the children have enjoyed sharing photos of people who are special to them. The children have also enjoyed lots of fine motor activities. A significant one was a threading activity using love heart shaped pipe cleaners!
We hope that you enjoy looking at some of our photos 😊

Book Shop

As the nights are drawing in and more of us are tucked up at home thinking about the 25th of December, we have decided to run an online bookshop.  This will allow you to purchase discounted books while raising funds for the school.  The shop is only open until the 30th of November, but every purchase will help keep our library stocked with the latest titles.  We have attached two links to leaflets to provide some inspiration, the first is primary and the second is for pre-teens.

Attendance Matters

It is so important that we see your children in school every day as any missed days means missed learning.  We have had a very positive start to the new term.

There are our attendance figures for this week:

Overall 94.6%

A big well done to 613 for winning the attendance trophy as well as Nursery am, Class R01, Class 308, Class 410 and Class 613 for getting over 96%. Let’s keep this up and aim for even more classes in the green in the coming weeks.

Reminders

*Thank you to everyone who has named their child’s uniform; this really helps us to return any lost property to its rightful owner, and we would encourage all parents to make sure that the uniform is named, please.

*As the weather has turned much wetter and colder, please can you ensure that the children have a suitable coat in school each day. Many thanks.
