Weekly Update

The week started with a fantastic Parental Partnership on Monday where Year 6 family members worked with their child to complete their Anderson Shelter models. The outcomes were amazing showing real creativity and attention to detail. It has been lovely to display them for the rest of school to see during Parent Consultations this week. Year 6 also enjoyed a very busy day at Eden Camp on Wednesday which really enhanced their current History unit on World War Two.

We had lots of sporting success this week with both the football and rugby teams winning their finals matches and becoming Tees Valley T1 Rugby Champions and Tees Valley Football Champions. These are exceptional achievements, and you should all be very proud of your success. Congratulations to all the children who took part and a big thank you to Mr Jackson for all his coaching.

Reception enjoyed a seasonal walk to look for features of autumn to enhance their current theme and gathered lots of leaves and other resources.

We have really enjoyed all our parents and carers being in school for Parental Consultations this week; it was lovely to share your children’s learning and progress.

Finally, we had a very successful ‘Breaking the Rules’ Day on Thursday where the children opted to do some activities that were usually not allowed and had lots of fun and smiles along the way. The ‘unruliest’ was Class 103 and the most law abiding was Class 614!

A grand total of £1006.54 was made for school funds. Thank you for all your support.

Hope everyone has a relaxing half term, and we look forward to seeing everyone back on the 2nd November.

Class Round Up

Enjoy finding out what our Key Stage One classes have been doing in their learning.

Year 2

The children have had a fantastic start to Year 2 and have settled into their new routines brilliantly!

In DT, the children have enjoyed designing and building their own free-standing lighthouse structures, showing lots of creativity and problem-solving skills. 🏗️💡

Our young scientists have also been busy working in teams to investigate how far they could stretch a Curly Wurly, making predictions, testing their ideas and having lots of fun along the way! 🧪🍫

It has been wonderful to see the children growing in confidence, working together and embracing all the exciting learning opportunities Year 2 has to offer.

We hope all our families have a lovely, relaxing half-term and enjoy a well-deserved break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for another exciting half term of learning and fun! 🍂😊

Year 1

This week, Year 1 worked together in groups to explore mark making using oil pastels and a variety of different colours. They experimented with creating different lines, patterns and marks, discovering how colours can be used in different ways to bring their artwork to life. The children showed fantastic creativity and enjoyed sharing ideas and exploring different techniques together.
On Thursday, in art the children have been drawing pumpkins by carefully observing their shapes, lines and details to help them create their own drawings. They experimented with using one continuous line, adding shading and using different mark-making techniques to bring their pumpkins to life. The children then used oil pastels to add depth and detail to their artwork, creating some fantastic pumpkin drawing.
We are very proud of all the hard work and enthusiasm shown this week. Well done, Year 1! 🌟

Attendance

It is so important that we see your children in school every day as any missed days means missed learning.

Congratulations to Class 613 who won the KS2 Attendance Trophy and Class 206 and 104 who shared the EYFS/KS1 trophy. Much more positive this week with 8 classes getting over 96%.  Keep up the good work after a good rest next week.

Reminders

If you would like to discuss anything relating to your child, we ask that you speak to your child’s class teacher in the first instance.

If you require a further discussion please contact phase leaders: Miss Mills for EYFS, Mrs Ingledew for KS1 and Mrs Wilson for KS2.

Mrs Prince and Miss Tarran are also available on the gates each morning and can support with any unresolved issues.

Our office staff will always be able answer organisational queries too.

We would always recommend that you come and speak to staff if you have any worries or concerns, so they can be resolved as soon as possible.

Thank you to everyone who has named their child’s uniform; this really helps us to return any lost property to its rightful owner, and we would encourage all parents to make sure that uniform is named please.

Please can we remind all children and parents that bikes and scooters should not be ridden on the school playground. Please jump off your vehicle and push it along to avoid any accidents.
