Weekly Update
Thank you to everyone’s contributions to our non-unform day; it was a positive end to the half term.
This week, Mr Jackson organised the TLLT Sports Hall Athletics Festival where groups of children from all the schools in out Trust took part. Forty of our children headed to Acklam Grange to take part in numerous indoor athletic events with events taking place on both the morning and afternoon. A great time was had by all!
We want to thank the children for how sensible they have been with the resin animals which have been the highlight of many children’s playtimes over the last half term. When the weather has been poor, and we couldn’t get on the field, it has been lovely to watch the children talking and comparing their figures. Some children now have quite a collection!
We received this thank you from Zoe’s Place after our donation following the Santa Run before Christmas. Thank you for all your kind contributions; they were very gratefully received.

Reception
Reception are learning about our bedtime routines and how important having a good night sleep is to help us feel happy and healthy. After reading the story ‘Whiffy Wilson: The Wolf Who Wouldn’t Go To Bed’ we talked about the things we do to prepare for bed. We ordered our bedtime routine pictures to create a timeline line to show the routine most of us follow and wrote some super sentences about what we can do to help us prepare for a good night’s sleep.

In maths we have been representing the numbers 6-10 on our fingers as ‘5 and a bit’ and counted out target numbers from a group of objects following our counting rules. We know we need to count each object once, say the numbers in the correct order and remember that the final number tells us how many there are altogether.

Jigsaw Jenie has been helping us to think about the importance of perseverance and keeping going, especially when something is new or challenging. The children shared some of the goals they would like to achieve, from learning to drive to becoming a super skater!
The children showed great determination in PE this week as they practised their skills on our brand new balance bikes, with some children even learning to ride a pedal bike.

Year 1
This week in Year 1, we have been composing our own sentences about Alan the Alligator from the story Alan’s Big Scary Teeth. We have worked incredibly hard to write our sentences correctly using capital letters at the beginning and full stops at the end. We have also been using our phonic knowledge to help us spell words independently.

We have really enjoyed exploring colour mixing in our art lessons. We have experimented using primary colours (red, blue and yellow) and experimenting to create secondary colours (orange, green and purple). We also explored how to make different shades of green by adding more blue or more yellow.

Year 2

Attendance Matters
It is so important that we see your children in school every day as any missed days means missed learning.
There are our attendance figures for this week:

A big well done to 613 for getting 100% – a fantastic achievement – as well as Nursery am, Class 205, Class 308 and Class 614 who all got over 96%.
Let’s keep this up and aim for even more children getting 100% this term.

Reminders
Reminders
- Please can we remind you that children should be wearing black school shoes with their uniform on non-PE days. On PE days, only black or white trainers should be worn with their PE kit.
- Thank you to everyone who has named their child’s uniform; this really helps us to return any lost property to its rightful owner, and we would encourage all parents to make sure that uniform is named please.
