Weekly Update

What a lovely short week we have had with the weather finally turning and it making it a pleasure to be outdoors at play and lunchtimes.

The children thoroughly enjoyed World Book Day on Thursday where we had some fantastic costumes as well as many children who came in their comfy pyjamas. Some children watched webinars including one about the Little People, BIG Dreams series of books which was very interactive and engaging.

We have lots coming up next week with British Science Week starting on Monday with this year’s theme being: Curiosity – what’s your question? Please remember to send in any entries for the poster competition next week (details were on the app message sent by Miss Edwards).

Our choir are really looking forward to taking part in the TLLT Choir Festival on Wednesday at Middlesbrough Town Hall. They have worked hard to learn the words to their songs and will contribute to the theme of Pop through the Decades.

We hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Class Round Up

Read on to find out what our Lower Key Stage Two classes have been doing in their learning:

Year 4

Year 4 had a truly magical World Book Day this year, transforming our classrooms into a cozy Reading Café where students shared their favorite stories over “book talk.” We tuned into the BBC Live event to hear directly from inspiring authors before diving into the world of classic literature. By comparing these timeless tales to our current class novel, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, the children made brilliant links between different literary worlds. To top it all off, we generated a bank of ambitious vocabulary in English, perfectly priming our young authors for their Narnia-themed writing next week. It was a fantastic celebration of reading that has left everyone eager to start their next chapter!

Attendance Matters

It is so important that we see your children in school every day as any missed days means missed learning.

There are our attendance figures for this week:

Overall 96.9%

A big well done to Class 205 and Class 104 who won the attendance trophy with 99.6% – a fantastic achievement – as well as Class Nursery am, Class R01, Class R02 Class 205, Class 206, Class 410, Class 511, Class 512, Class 613 and Class 614 who all got over 96%.

Let’s keep this up and aim for even more children over 96% this term.

Reminders

Reminders

  • Please can we remind you that children should be wearing black school shoes with their uniform on non-PE days. On PE days, only black or white trainers should be worn with their PE kit.
  • Thank you to everyone who has named their child’s uniform; this really helps us to return any lost property to its rightful owner, and we would encourage all parents to make sure that uniform is named please.
