Weekly Update
A great end to the week with Comic Relief Day. It was lovely to see the sea of red and bright colours in assembly today. We managed to raise £453.15 for this amazing charity – thank you for all your support.
On Wednesday. the Year 4 children held an enjoyable Parental Partnership afternoon where they experienced activities to complement their history work on Ancient Egypt. The children decorated Egyptian Ankh which they had made from salt dough earlier in the week. They also made a bookmark using papyrus with their names in hieroglyphics. Many thanks for everyone who were able to join us.

Wishing all our Muslim families a joyful and peaceful Eid Mubarak this weekend—may it be filled with happiness, love and celebration 🌙✨
We hope everyone has a lovely weekend.
Class Round Up
Read on to find out what our Upper KS2 Classes have been doing in their learning:
Y5
This week, we started our new DT unit: Mechanisms. We have researched how pulleys work, looking in detail at flag poles and construction cranes, and have worked in small teams to create our own simple pulley system. At the end of the term, we will design, make and evaluate ski lifts which include a pulley system.

Last Thursday, we enjoyed a Viking workshop. We took part in a Viking invasion, which really helped us to see how the Vikings were so successful in battle. We were also archaeologists and ‘dug up’ some artefacts from the past. We thought about what each item was using clues we gained from our careful observations, discovering many belt buckles, pottery and buttons. In the afternoon, we all attended a ‘Thing’ which was a gathering of freemen. It was both a parliament and a court. Both trivial matters and those of a more serious nature were decided here. Any decisions we made had to keep the three main classes of society happy – this was not always easy! Finally, we played some Viking games – 9 Men’s Morris and Tafl. Both were games of strategy and forward thinking. We all really enjoyed playing them.

The theme for Science Week this year was “Curiosity… what’s your question?” The children made rocket launchers and investigated the effect of air resistance on different sized paper and on different materials. They demonstrated brilliant teamwork and worked collaboratively to design and make their launchers.

Our recent writing genre was poetry where we wrote Haikus. These were 3 line poems that had syllable patterns of 5, 7, 5. We put our finished poems into a book which we are keeping in our class library.

Attendance Matters
It is so important that we see your children in school every day as any missed days means missed learning.
There are our attendance figures for this week:

Overall 94.5%
A big well done to Class 103 for winning the attendance trophy and to Class R02, Class 308 and Class 511 all got over 96%.
Let’s keep this up and aim for even more children getting 100% this term.

Reminders
Reminders
- Please can we remind you that children should be wearing black school shoes with their uniform on non-PE days. On PE days, only black or white trainers should be worn with their PE kit.
- Thank you to everyone who has named their child’s uniform; this really helps us to return any lost property to its rightful owner, and we would encourage all parents to make sure that uniform is named please.

In this week’s edition, we’re focusing on Staff Self‑Care in the School Day — an important aspect of stress management and overall wellbeing for everyone working in education.
We’re also celebrating some brilliant HeadStarter highlights:
✨ Ayersome Primary HeadStarters had the wonderful opportunity to visit the ARC Art Centre, where they saw their creative work professionally exhibited.
✨ St Peter’s HeadStarters met again this week to look ahead and plan all things wellbeing for the year.
We’ve also included the latest Health and Wellbeing Network dates, bringing together our HeadStart Mental Health Leads from across South Tees.
And finally, a reminder that applications are still open for an amazing opportunity to celebrate creative health projects that support children’s health, wellbeing, imagination, and learning.
