Weekly Update 🐣

We’ve had a lovely week to the summer term, and the children have come back eager to learn and looking super smart in their uniforms.

The weather has been kind, and we have had lots of opportunities to enjoy outdoor play.

Year 5 enjoyed an informative visit to the Life Centre on Wednesday and Mr Jackson took a group of boys out today to the football finals.

We are looking forward to a busy summer term.

Have a great weekend.

Class Round Up

Read on to find out what our Early Years Classes have been doing in their learning:

Reception

This half term, Reception are starting to compose and record their own sentences using their phonic knowledge.

We practised our counting skills by sorting a dish of mixed objects to find out how many of each item we had.  We also practised counting groups in pictures where the objects could not be moved.

Reception have been taking care of some caterpillars and are watching the changes that happen as they grow. We talked about what we already know about caterpillars and butterflies and shared the book ‘One Little Butterfly’ to learn some more information about them.
We learnt about the life cycle of a butterfly and sequenced the stages of growth. We have learnt lots of new vocabulary linked to our learning and are taking good care of our special visitors.
Next week, Our grown-ups are joining us for a planting session as we learn more about how to look after our school environment and the nature in it.

Nursery

Nursery have made a fantastic start to our Summer Term this week! As a class we shared the story ‘Titch’ by Pat Hutchins and discussed how we have grown since starting Nursery. The children have made some fantastic links by comparing their growth to the tiny seed growing in the story. To support our learning, we asked the question ‘do living things stay the same?’ and included lots of excellent vocabulary in our discussions. On Wednesday, the children carefully painted some daffodils using the correct colours to creatively design their own flower artwork. The children did a super job by using the fine paint brushes to represent petals and stems. In our continuous provision areas, the children have had a great time exploring different activities. Making a dandelion potion was one of the children’s favourite choices!
Across the week Nursery have enjoyed the glorious sunshine in our outdoor continuous provision. The children’s favourite thing to do is to work as a team and construct an obstacle course using lots of different materials. It has been fantastic to observe the children problem solving together and practising their balance and coordination skills. We also enjoyed using our ‘Flipper Flappers’ in the sunshine to practise our Squiggle moves!
Next week we are looking forward to sharing the story ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’.

Attendance Matters

It is so important that we see your children in school every day as any missed days means missed learning.

There are our attendance figures for this week:

Overall 94.7%

A big well done to Nursery am for getting 100% – a fantastic achievement – as well as Class 103, Class 104, Class 205, Class 410, Class 511 and Class 614 who all got over 96%.

Not the best start to the half term so let’s try and get more classes over 96% next week.

A reminder that if a child is picked up early from school then you must provide medical evidence of the appointment they are attending.

It was the first day of our Full House Friday campaign, and everyone in school today will get a ticket to go in the draw at the end of this half term.

Reminders

Reminders

  • Please can we remind you that children should be wearing black school shoes with their uniform on non-PE days. On PE days, only black or white trainers should be worn with their PE kit.
  • Thank you to everyone who has named their child’s uniform; this really helps us to return any lost property to its rightful owner, and we would encourage all parents to make sure that uniform is named please.
