Weekly Update 🐣

We have had a lovely week in school leading up the Easter break. We were overwhelmed with the number of amazing entries for our Decorated Egg competition; the ideas were so imaginative and they all made us smile! The winners were announced in assembly where we shared the amazing entries. Thank you for your support with the Easter raffle – well done to all the winners; we hope you enjoy your sweet treat! We made an amazing £649.70 for school funds.

Please see our attendance section to read about our Full House Friday Initiative where children get a ticket into the prize draw when they attend on a Friday. We hope this will encourage excellent attendance for every day in the week.

We wish everyone a lovely Easter break.

Class Round Up

Read on to find out what our KS1 Classes have been doing in their learning:

This week in Year 3, we have been exploring the fascinating world of fossils in our Science lessons. We learned that fossils are the remains or traces of living things from long ago and discovered how they are formed over millions of years when plants and animals are buried under layers of sediment.

To help us understand this process, we created our own fossils using salt dough. We carefully pressed different objects into the dough to make imprints, just like real fossils are formed when something leaves a mark in soft ground that later hardens. We then observed our creations and talked about what they might tell us about the past.

The children showed great curiosity, asking thoughtful questions and making links to what they have learned about dinosaurs and prehistoric life. We are looking forward to continuing our learning and finding out even more about how fossils help us understand the history of our planet.

Year 2 had a wonderful time taking part in a traditional egg rolling competition. The children thoroughly enjoyed this fun activity and showed great enthusiasm as they rolled their eggs down the hill, cheering each other on. It was a lovely way to celebrate a seasonal tradition together outdoors.

Y4

Year 4 have had an incredibly busy and exciting few weeks, packed full of hands-on learning, creativity and fantastic effort across the curriculum! We have loved our outdoor learning sessions, where we worked alongside Mr Armstrong to learn how to safely build and manage fires. The children showed great responsibility, teamwork and respect for safety rules, making it a truly valuable experience. It was wonderful to see their confidence grow as they developed these important life skills in the great outdoors.

In Science, we have been exploring electricity and investigating different materials to discover whether they are conductors or insulators. The children carried out practical tests and made thoughtful predictions, showing excellent scientific thinking and curiosity. We were very impressed with their ability to explain their findings using correct scientific vocabulary.

In English, we have completed our character descriptions of Mr Tumnus, inspired by The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. The children worked incredibly hard to include rich vocabulary, expanded noun phrases and descriptive detail. Their writing really brought the character to life, and we are so proud of the progress they have made.

Creativity has also been shining in Year 4 with our fantastic “Decorate an Egg” competition. We were blown away by the effort and imagination that went into each entry—there were so many unique and colourful designs that it was very difficult to choose winners!

Well done, Year 4—what a brilliant end to the term! 🌟

Attendance Matters

It is so important that we see your children in school every day as any missed days means missed learning.

There are our attendance figures for this week:

Overall 96 %

A big well done to Class 103 for winning the attendance this week as well as Class R01, Class 103, Class 206, Class 307, Class 308, Class 511, Class 613  and Class 614 who all got over 96%.

Let’s keep this up and aim for even more children getting 100% this term.

Reminders

Reminders

  • Please can we remind you that children should be wearing black school shoes with their uniform on non-PE days. On PE days, only black or white trainers should be worn with their PE kit.
  • Thank you to everyone who has named their child’s uniform; this really helps us to return any lost property to its rightful owner, and we would encourage all parents to make sure that uniform is named please.
