Weekly Update

We’ve had a very productive week in school, engaging in our new units of work and enjoying the autumn weather and our outdoor spaces. Mr Armstrong started his Forest Schools programme for the Autumn term with Year 1 enjoying their session in our Outdoor Classroom this week. Please see our Diary Dates below to see when other year groups are attending.

We look forward to the start of our Sporting Events next week with the Year 6 and 5 participating in Football Tournaments on Monday and Tuesday. Good luck to all the teams taking part.

Could we please ask that children do not play on the MUGA, field or Trim Track before or after school. Children are only allowed on these with staff supervision.

Could parents/carers in cars also be considerate when parking at the start and end of the day; please make sure that you do not block resident’s driveways and prevent them from accessing their properties.

We appreciate everyone’s co-operation with both these matters.

Have a lovely weekend.

Thank You for Moving to Our New Arbor App

A big thank you to all our parents and carers who have already accepted their invitation and moved over to our new Arbor Parent App. We really appreciate your support as we make this transition.

The Arbor app will allow you to:

  • 📱 Receive school messages and updates
  • 📅 View important school information and events
  • 💷 Pay for school meals and other items
  • 📝 Complete forms and provide information to school
  • 📚 Access key information about your child
  • 🔔 Receive important notifications directly through the app

If you haven’t activated your Arbor account yet, please keep an eye out for your activation link, which will be sent to you shortly. Once received, please follow the link to set up your account and download the Arbor app.

We will be moving fully across to Arbor over the coming weeks, so thank you for helping us make the change as smooth as possible!

Class Round Up

Enjoy finding out what our EYFS classes have been doing in their learning.

Nursery

We have had a lovely week in Nursery! The children have enjoyed settling into our classroom routine and making new friends!🙂 The water area has definitely been one of the children’s favourite areas. They have had lots of fun using their fine motor skills to pour, fill and scoop lots of bubbly water!
Our story this week has been ‘The Colour Monster’. As a class we have discussed how we feel different emotions in different situations. The children have had a fantastic time joining in to show different emotions on their face using the mirrors. Our key Nursery Rhyme this week has been ‘If You’re Happy and You Know It’, which we have had a great time singing and dancing to in the classroom!
Next week we are looking forward to lots more fantastic learning. Well done, Nursery! You have all made a super start to the school year!

Reception

What an incredible start to the school year! Starting “big school” is a huge milestone, and we could not be prouder of how brilliantly our Reception children have settled into their new environment, routines, and friendships.
The classroom and outdoor areas have been full of excitement, curiosity, and creativity. The children have loved exploring the continuous provision areas: the construction area, the creative & messy stations, the home corner and the outdoor area.
We spent time reading stories like The Colour Monster and sharing how we felt on our very first morning. The children talked about feeling nervous, excited, shy, and proud. We discussed how all feelings are completely normal and talked about how we can look out for one another and help anyone who needs a smile or a helping hand. We also had a visit from our Year 5 Play Pals who will be coming to join us over lunchtimes to play games and have fun together.
Dinner time has been a major highlight this week. Walking into the dining hall, collecting trays, and sitting together can feel like a big adventure, but the children took it completely in their stride. They have done a fantastic job balancing their trays, using their cutlery, trying new foods, and remembering their please and thank-yous. Our lunchtime staff have been full of praise for their wonderful manners.
We have been practising the movements needed to form our letters. This week, we practised the movements ‘down’ and ‘down, up’. We started by making large movements in the air and practising on large sheets of paper. We then moved to the tables, where we practised correct posture and learned how to hold our pencils properly.
Thank you for your support in making the transition so smooth. The children have worked hard and will undoubtedly be ready for a restful weekend!

Overall 97% (a fantastic first full week)

Well done to the 11 classes who got 96% or above – a great achievement – and to Class 613 who got 100% this week!

Keep up the good work everyone – this half term we want to aim for more children and classes to achieve 100%.

Reminders

  • If you would like to discuss anything related to your child, we ask that you speak to your child’s class teacher in the first instance.

If you require a further discussion please contact phase leaders: Miss Mills for EYFS, Mrs Ingledew for KS1 and Mrs Wilson for KS2.

Mrs Prince and Miss Tarran are also available on the gates each morning and can support with any unresolved issues.

Our office staff will always be able answer organisational queries too.

We would always recommend that you come and speak to staff if you have any worries or concerns, so they can be resolved as soon as possible.

  • Due to new lunchtime arrangements, please can you make sure that children have a drink in their packed lunches as they are unable to go back to their classrooms for their class water bottles. Children have access to tap water in the lunch hall if they wish to have some.
  • Thank you to everyone who has named their child’s uniform; this really helps us to return any lost property to its rightful owner, and we would encourage all parents to make sure that uniform is named please
    • Please can we remind all children and parents that bikes and scooters should not be ridden on the school playground. Please jump off your vehicle and push it along to avoid any accidents.
