Weekly Update

We ended the week with our first Rocksteady Concert which was very well supported by parents and carers. After only a few weeks of lessons, all of our bands performed fantastically, and we were very proud of them all. We can’t wait to see (and hear) which songs you choose to perform next! Thank you to Luke for all his work with the children.

In assembly today, Mrs Wilson spoke to the children about our Net Zero 2030 project where we have signed up to reduce our carbon footprint in school. Lots of initiatives are already in place to support recycling, reducing the use of energy and planting more trees around school. More information can be found out in the letter sent out this week, and we would love to hear any suggestions our families have to support us in this mission.

Next week we will be selling raffle tickets for our Easter raffle. Tickets will be 20p each or £1 a strip. Children can obtain tickets in school from Monday. Our annual Decorated Egg competition will be on Thursday – if children bring in their entries at the beginning of the day, and we will display them in the hall. You always amaze us with your imaginative ideas, and we are very eggcited to see them all.

We hope everyone has a lovely weekend (and don’t forget the clocks go forward one hour on Sunday morning!)

Class Round Up

Y2

There’s been a real buzz around school this week as our brand‑new books have arrived, and the excitement has been impossible to miss! To celebrate World Book Day, both classes took part in a special vote to choose which books they wanted to add to their reading areas. The results were loud and clear: non‑fiction is in high demand!

Class 205 cast their votes for books about space, and their enthusiasm has paid off. We now have a dedicated space book section in our classroom, filled with fascinating facts, stunning images, and plenty of inspiration for budding astronomers. The children have already been diving in and sharing new discoveries with each other.

Class 206, known for their brilliant questions and endless curiosity, chose books that help them explore the world around them. From animals to inventions to the mysteries of nature, their new collection is packed with answers to the big (and small!) questions they love to ask.

Y1

This week in Year 1, we have been busy with lots of exciting learning across the curriculum!

In PSHE, we focused on road safety. We learned how to cross the road safely, thinking carefully about stopping, looking both ways, and listening for traffic. We discussed why it is important to stay alert and make safe choices when near roads.

In Maths, we have been exploring measures, focusing on capacity and weight. The children enjoyed comparing and measuring different objects, using language such as heavier, lighter, full, and empty. They have been developing their understanding through practical, hands-on activities.

In English, we have been working on composing sentences to describe our own bike designs, inspired by the story of Mrs Armitage on Wheels. They showed great imagination, using their phonics knowledge to write descriptive sentences and share their creative ideas.

Well done, Year 1, for another fantastic week of learning!

Attendance Matters

It is so important that we see your children in school every day as any missed days means missed learning.

There are our attendance figures for this week:

Overall 96%

A big well done to Class 103 and to Class R01, Class 104, Class 205, Class 206, Class 308, Class 409, Class 511 and Class 614 who all got over 96%.

Let’s keep this up and aim for even more classes getting over 96%

Reminders

Please can we remind you that children should be wearing black school shoes with their uniform on non-PE days. On PE days, only black or white trainers should be worn with their PE kit.
Thank you to everyone who has named their child’s uniform; this really helps us to return any lost property to its rightful owner, and we would encourage all parents to make sure that uniform is named please.
