Weekly Update
Our Christmas preparations have been in full swing this week. Children have been very busy preparing for their Christmas Shows, which they can’t wait to share with you.
Over the day, we have all participated in our Elf Run to raise money for Zoe’s Place. It was a such a wonderful experience which the children thoroughly enjoyed, and we managed to raise a massive £479.13 for this amazing local charity.
Please see our Christmas timetable below for all the events over the coming two weeks, and we look forward to seeing everybody for the shows.
The Year 5 and Year 6 children had two informative workshops on Monday, led by Rebecca from Northern Gas. The Year 5s worked on Energy Island, designing a fictional island that tried to achieve Net Zero for energy production and the Year 6 children undertook an experiment to compare renewable energy sources with fossil fuels.

Class Round Up

Year 3
Our Year 3 children have settled into the new school year really well and it has been lovely to see their enthusiasm and positive attitude to learning.
One of the highlights this term has been the start of our French lessons. The children have been busy locating France on a map and discovering other countries around the world where French is spoken. They were fascinated to learn just how widely the language is used!
We have also been practising some simple conversations in French. The children can now ask and answer questions such as: How are you? What is your name? How old are you? They are enjoying having a go at speaking with each other and are quickly growing in confidence.
Year 4
It’s been another wonderfully busy week in Year 4! We have thrown ourselves into rehearsals for our Christmas production, A Magical Christmas Jigsaw, and the children are really shining. With the show just around the corner, excitement is definitely building!
In reading, we’ve been exploring Tony Mitton’s retelling of A Christmas Carol, diving into the Victorian world and meeting some familiar festive characters. This has linked beautifully to our writing, where the children have created their own atmospheric Victorian street setting descriptions—full of frosty cobbles, glowing lamps and bustling markets.
This afternoon, we also took part in the Elf Run in aid of Zoe’s Place. The children loved getting involved, and it was fantastic to see everyone taking part for such a brilliant cause.
A very full week indeed in Year 4—and lots more to come! We are looking forward to the next few weeks of performances, festivities and beginning our Sewing DT project.
Attendance Matters
It is so important that we see your children in school every day as any missed days means missed learning. We have had a very positive start to the new term.
There are our attendance figures for this week:
Overall a disappointing 91%
A big well done to Class 614 for winning the attendance trophy for the 3rd week in a row – a super achievement. Class 308 was the only other class who all got over 96%.
We have had lots of illness this week, but let’s hope that children get fit and well over the weekend, so they are in school for their Christmas Show next week.
Reminders
*Thank you to everyone who has named their child’s uniform; this really helps us to return any lost property to its rightful owner, and we would encourage all parents to make sure that uniform is named please.
*As the weather has turned much wetter and colder, please can you ensure that the children have a suitable coat in school each day. Many thanks.
