Weekly Update
A busy week in school with Year 4 heading out for a local area walk as part of their Geography unit on Settlements.
Our football teams had a wonderful couple of days at the Sports Village with the Boys A team becoming the Middlesbrough Champions, the Boys B team being Plate 2 champions and the Boys C team being Plate 4 Runners Up. Congratulations to everyone who took part over the two days – you represented Acklam Whin so well!
We have had a great week of attendance, sitting at 97% for the year so far. It is fantastic that we are seeing so many children with excellent attendance; keep it up over the rest of this term.

Thank You for Moving to Our New Arbor App
A big thank you to all our parents and carers who have already accepted their invitation and moved over to our new Arbor Parent App. We really appreciate your support as we make this transition.
The Arbor app will allow you to:

If you haven’t activated your Arbor account yet, please keep an eye out for your activation link, which will be sent to you shortly. Once received, please follow the link to set up your account and download the Arbor app.
We will be moving fully across to Arbor over the coming weeks, so thank you for helping us make the change as smooth as possible!
Class Round Up
Enjoy finding out what our EYFS classes have been doing in their learning.
Year 5
In science, Year 5 are learning about materials and their properties. On Wednesday, we conducted a fair test to find the best insulator from a range of materials. We used a thermometer to take accurate measurements of the water temperature and worked ever so well in our groups.
In music, we have been learning to play an eight-note melody on the glockenspiels, using the notes G, A and B. We are looking forward to creating and performing our own improvisations to jazz music in the coming weeks.
We thoroughly enjoyed our first WHIN time last Friday. Board games were a huge hit with multiple chess tournaments, Frustration, Connect 4, Harry Potter Dobble and Guess Who? And bracelet making engaging the children in lots of positive conversations and smiles.

Attendance
It is so important that we see your children in school every day as any missed days means missed learning.
There are our attendance figures for this week:
Overall, 96.8% (another great attendance week – well done!)
Well done to the 12 classes who got 96% or above and to Nursery pm and Class 206 who both got 100% – a great achievement.
This half term we want to aim for more children and classes to be over 100%
Reminders
- If you would like to discuss anything related to your child, we ask that you speak to your child’s class teacher in the first instance.
If you require a further discussion please contact phase leaders: Miss Mills for EYFS, Mrs Ingledew for KS1 and Mrs Wilson for KS2.
Mrs Prince and Miss Tarran are also available on the gates each morning and can support with any unresolved issues.
Our office staff will always be able answer organisational queries too.
We would always recommend that you come and speak to staff if you have any worries or concerns, so they can be resolved as soon as possible.
- Mrs Gallant is updating our medical records; please can you get in touch asap if your child has a new medical condition or there are any changes to their current condition.
- Due to new lunchtime arrangements, please can you make sure that children have a drink in their packed lunches as they are unable to go back to their classrooms for their class water bottles. Children have access to tap water in the lunch hall if they wish to have some.
- Thank you to everyone who has named their child’s uniform; this really helps us to return any lost property to its rightful owner, and we would encourage all parents to make sure that uniform is named please.
- Please can we remind all children and parents that bikes and scooters should not be ridden on the school playground. Please jump off your vehicle and push it along to avoid any accidents.
